About the Event

The Kara Fund was proud to support the Sickle Cell Back-to-School Picnic on August 29, 2026, at Onondaga Lake Park.

Children living with sickle cell disease and their families joined members of their Upstate Medical University care teams for a day of food, fun, and community.

The Kara Fund provided new backpacks filled with school supplies to help students start the school year prepared, along with a barbecue lunch and volunteers to help make the day possible.

A little extra support, a chance to spend time together, and a great way to kick off the school year!
